Each year Solihull Council must decide whether to change the Council Tax Reduction scheme for working age applicants in its area. There are no changes for Pension Age applicants as they are part of the national scheme.
Every year, Solihull Council reviews its Council Tax Reduction scheme for people of working age. This scheme helps residents on low incomes pay their Council Tax. People of pension age are not affected by the proposed changes because their support is set by the Government.
Currently:
- About 12,726 households get Council Tax Reduction
- Of these, 7,850 are working age.
- The scheme costs around £14.706 million.
- Solihull Council pays 85.1%
- Police and Crime Commissioner pays 11.0%.
- Fire & Rescue Service pays 3.9%
- The proposed changes would reduce the cost to £14.610 million.
