Suffolk User Forum and Healthwatch Suffolk CIC are working in partnership to gather your experiences of urgent NHS mental health care – specifically, experiences of hospital A&E departments and support from psychiatric liaison services.
If you’ve been to A&E for help with your mental health, or attended A&E supporting someone who has (for example as a family carer), we want to hear from you.
Your feedback will help us to shape standards of care, ensuring better experiences for anyone presenting at A&E with a mental health crisis in the future.
Please note that this survey is about experiences in the last 12 months, however, if you have an older experience, we still want to hear your feedback. You can share your feedback on the Healthwatch Suffolk website to help us improve standards of care.
Taking part in the survey
Please complete the survey in full. It is helpful if you can provide as much detail as possible.
This survey is hosted by Healthwatch Suffolk. Only Healthwatch staff will have access to your full responses. You must be over the age of 18 to feedback.
We will not ask for your name or other personal contact information. Any personal information you provide in the survey will be deleted before it is analysed.
It is important to know that things you say may be featured in our final public report. It will be shared with hospital teams, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust leaders, uploaded to the SUF and Healthwatch Suffolk websites and shared widely, including on social media. We cannot guarantee that you will not be identifiable by the experiences you describe.

About SUF and Healthwatch Suffolk
Suffolk User Forum (SUF) is an independent mental health user-led involvement, peer support and advocacy organisation. Listening and giving people a voice is central to our work. Our support is designed around people’s individual needs, choices, and what matters to them. We promote the mentoring value of lived experience through meaningful coproduction and intervention-based support.
Healthwatch Suffolk is your local health and social care champion. It makes people’s experiences of using NHS and social care services known to shape, influence, and improve local standards of care.
More information about how Healthwatch Suffolk will use people’s feedback can be found in its privacy policy (see https://healthwatchsuffolk.co.uk/privacy-policy/). Suffolk User Forum also has a privacy policy, which you can read at https://www.suffolkuserforum.co.uk/privacy-statement/
[Trigger warning: Our survey will ask about your experiences of mental health support in a crisis. Signposting information about local mental health support will be available at the end of the survey. You can end the survey at any point or skip questions that you would prefer not to answer.]
