Background to the Proposed Changes:
Redditch Borough Council (“the Council”) is proposing to change its approach to the criteria of who will be able to join the extra care housing register and make changes to how priority is awarded.
Why is the Council changing its Allocation Policy?
The Council recognised that it needed to undertake a review of its extra care local letting plan as a review had not been undertaken since 2014.
Since this time there have been changes in legislation which also need to be considered, social housing regulatory requirements as well as changes in the housing needs within the area and demand alongside other societal changes.
Consultation:
A consultation over the proposed changes to the way social housing is allocated starts on Monday 19 June 2025 for a period of 12 weeks and will close on Sunday 10 August at 23.59.
As part of this consultation the Council is inviting comments on several changes being proposed to the criteria of who will be able to join the extra care housing register and changes in the way in which priority is assessed and awarded.
What will be the main changes to the Council's Local Letting Plan?
