Thurrock Council would like to hear from parents and carers of children aged 3 - 11 years about their current - and intended future - use of wraparound childcare.
This is because the DfE has announced that parents/carers are about to see (from September 2024) an increase in the number of term time wraparound childcare places for primary school-aged children available, across the country – and therefore also in the Thurrock locality.
It is intended that all carers/parents, who have primary aged children, including working parents - can have access to term time wraparound care between 8am – 6pm, either from their child(ren)'s school or from another out-of-school-hours provider in their local area, by September 2026.
This survey focuses on childcare that ‘wraps around’ the conventional school or funded early years/childcare day, both before and/or after it.
This provision can run on a school site or at another setting in the area, such as at a childcare provider. It should not require parents to pick their child(ren) up from school and drop them off at another location and it should support them with their working day and their working hours.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete - and your feedback would be of significant value to Thurrock Council.
We would be grateful if you could complete the survey by Friday 11th October, 2024.
If you would like any further information about either: (a) the local authorities’ responsibility to ensure there is sufficient childcare or; (b) the legitimacy of this survey, please contact:
