Bristol City Council is proposing to create a temporary walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting zone on Gosforth Road (From Embleton Road Junction to Marbeck Road Junction) and Wigton Crescent during Little Mead Primary School’s opening and closing times. The scheme would operate between 8:15am – 9:00am in the morning and between 2:45pm-3:30pm in the afternoon. The closure would be in place Monday-Friday, during term-time only and managed with a physical barrier stewarded by school staff.

During this period of time, non-essential vehicles would not be permitted to enter the School Streets zone. Emergency vehicles, Blue Badge holders and residents within the closure zone with a valid School Streets permit would be exempt from these restrictions.

Please note, a permanent one-way system would also be introduced on Gosforth Road and Wigton Crescent to facilitate the closure. This one-way system would be in place 24/7.

The aims of the proposed scheme are to tackle congestion, unsafe parking and air pollution outside the school gates and to make it safer and easier to walk and wheel to school.
