Making Active Places - call for contributions now open
Making Active Places is Active Travel England’s flagship active travel and placemaking conference. The conference will bring together up to 800 delegates across placemaking, active travel, planning, health, transport and regeneration to discuss innovative ways we can create high-quality networks, routes and places for communities across the nation.
Please submit your proposal by Friday 16 January at 23:59. Late submissions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
About Active Travel England
Making Active Places 2026 is organised by Active Travel England, the government’s body enabling people nationwide to be more active by making streets safe and accessible for walking, wheeling and cycling.

Making Active Places (MAP) is a two-day training conference taking place in September 2026. This event is Active Travel England’s (ATE) flagship conference.
The conference will improve skills and support knowledge sharing of active travel best practice in industries such as health, transport, town planning and education.
The Making Active Places call for contributions is being carried out by ATE, an executive agency of the Department for Transport (DfT). The purpose of this form is to provide information to submit a contribution idea for the MAP conference.

- to contact you about options to use your contribution in other media (for example, webinars and website case studies)
- to subscribe you to the ATE newsletter (if you opt in)

- your name and email address, which we use to contact you
- your job title and organisation, which we use to ensure you receive relevant correspondence
The Department for Transport (DfT) and its executive agencies, including Active Travel England, are a single entity (or ‘data controller’) for the purposes of data protection law. The personal data collected in this form is processed in line with DfT’s online form and survey privacy policy.
