Tavistock BID 4th Term Consultation

Page 1

Tavistock BID’s third term finishes on 31st August 2026 but can be renewed subject to a new business plan being published and a ballot held where every levy paying business has a vote.

Over the past 15 years, Tavistock BID has worked extensively on your behalf to deliver an ambitious range of projects to support businesses, drive footfall, enhance the visitor experience, to encourage local support and to raise the profile of everything the town has to offer.

Without a BID, all the projects and services that the BID delivers will end on 31st August 2026. This would mean: no Dickensian Evening, no hanging baskets and no new Christmas lights on town centre streets and nobody raising the profile of Tavistock or fighting your corner on issues that matter, like parking meters!

Tavistock is your town and this survey is your chance to tell us what has worked in the third BID term, what hasn’t and what should be part of a fourth five-year term.

Our town has an exciting and positive future ahead. As the only World Heritage town in Devon, Tavistock benefits from additional footfall and a higher profile that this status brings. However, we recognise that we are in a challenging trading environment as uncertainty prevails over the economy. We believe having a BID to support and assist the business community is vital now and moving forward.

How much levy payers will contribute
The proposed levy rate is 2% for ratepayers over a £3,000 rateable value.  This will generate circa £109k per annum.

Your ideas will inform a new five-year business plan to be published in May 2026 ahead of a ballot in June/July, where you will have the chance to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for the continuation of the BID from September 2026 to August 2031.
