Welcome!
If you live, work, visit, or own a business in Thorpeness, the Resilient Coasts project would really like to hear from you.
We want to know your views so we can work with the community of Thorpeness to help plan for the future, particularly how Thorpeness may need to adapt to future coastal change.
The survey asks questions about:
- what you think about living in, working in, or visiting Thorpeness;
- what issues are important to you;
- what you know and think about how coastal erosion or coastal flooding affects Thorpeness, now and in the future.
Where the survey refers to coastal erosion it is referring to the gradual wearing away of land along the shore caused by the force of waves, wind, and water. Over time, these natural processes remove sand and rock, which can make beaches shrink and cliffs retreat. Storm and weather events can also cause more rapid incidents or periods of erosion, where significant amounts of sand and rock are lost.
Where coastal flooding is referred to, we are talking about when land along the coast gets covered by seawater. This can happen because of high tides, strong storms that push water inland (storm surges), or rising sea levels. It often causes damage to homes, roads, and other infrastructure.
The survey should take 15 - 20 minutes to complete. Remember every answer helps so please do complete the full survey if you can and tell others about it too. Please complete the survey by Sunday 14th September 2025.
