Cheshire Archives and Local Studies: Teacher survey

Cheshire Archives and Local Studies is currently reviewing its formal learning offer as part of its National Lottery Heritage Fund project Cheshire’s archives: a story shared. The project aims to build two new history centres – in Crewe and Chester – and to improve, reimagine and reinvigorate the archives service across the county. The team want to develop the workshops and resources they offer to schools and other learning institutions. We need your help as teachers working in Cheshire!

Headland Design Associates, based in Chester, has been employed to develop an Activity Plan to support the application to the NLHF for Round 2 delivery phase funding and to conduct consultation to inform that process. We would be grateful if you would be willing to answer the following brief questions about what you expect from a learning experience using heritage collections, which will help us understand what works well for you and your students.

The new history centres planned for Crewe and Chester will reimagine what it means to visit an archive. The experience will be personal and inspirational, with a new online catalogue enabling a seamless search across all of Cheshire’s archive collections and a system that helps to find stories relevant to you. Interpretation will be created at both sites to tell the stories of Cheshire using the archival collections. At the heart of the two centres will be ‘The Stage’, a double storey white cube to deliver a multi-sensory immersive experience of sound, digital image, performance and art inspired by the archives.

Completing the questionnaire is voluntary and all the information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. No information will be released that could identify an individual.
