Victims' Experience of Claiming Criminal Injuries Compensation

1. Victims' experience of claiming criminal injuries compensation

In my review into criminal injuries compensation I want to look at criminal injuries compensation from the perspective of victims. I am keen to know about victims’ experiences of making their application, whether there are any particular frustrations or blockages in the system and whether there are any aspects which work well. I would like to hear about your experience of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, and also your wider experience of advice and support in making your application.

Who this questionnaire is for: This questionnaire is for victims of violent or sexual crime who have applied to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority for criminal injuries compensation. Please also complete the questionnaire if you have completed an application on behalf of a friend or relative.

What this questionnaire is about: The questionnaire asks about your experience of applying for criminal injuries compensation. Questions are about the information you received about criminal injuries compensation, the process of applying, the help you received to complete your application and your satisfaction with the whole process. The questionnaire will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete depending on your experience.

What will happen to the information you provide: When you click ‘submit’, the completed questionnaire will go to the Victims Commissioner’s Office. We will collate the results and publish the report via our website in the Autumn. The survey is anonymous, only collated statistics and anonymised comments will be published in the report. For more details about how the Office of the Victims' Commisisoner will protect your privacy, please click here: Privacy notice for research participants .

Thank you for taking the time to complete this questionnaire.
