Following the incredible wave of new volunteers who came forward in response to the Covid-19 pandemic the local voluntary, community, health and care organisations across Gloucestershire have come together to see how we can improve our collective approach to volunteering in the county. We are reaching out to past and present volunteers, local voluntary organisations/community groups/charities, and local employers and employees to understand more about their different experiences and how the system can be improved.
We would be grateful if you could please spare 10 minutes to complete our survey aimed at understanding employees’ experiences of volunteering in Gloucestershire, either through a formal employer supported volunteering (ESV) scheme or through an informal arrangement, before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

What is an Employer Supported Volunteering Scheme?
Employer-supported volunteering (ESV) is where the employees of an organisation take paid time off to volunteer during work hours. Employees can choose to use their volunteering time to support a volunteering organisation/community group/charity of their own choice, or to take up an opportunity provided by their company.
This is a formal arrangement supported by policy/guidelines/procedures.
Employers may have informal arrangements in place where employees are offered paid or unpaid time off to volunteer/ support charitable causes on an adhoc/individual basis at the employer’s discretion.
