Healthwatch Norfolk | Family involvement in care: Experiences of Carers of people over 65

1. Experiences of Carers of people over 65

0%

This survey is aimed at people who provide unpaid care for someone over 65 years of age. Not everyone sees themselves as a Carer and some people may not be sure whether they are a Carer. The NHS defines a Carer as "anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid".

Who is Healthwatch Norfolk?

Healthwatch Norfolk is the independent voice for patients, service users and Carers in the county. We gather your views of health and social care services to ensure they are heard by the people in charge.

What is this survey about?

Healthwatch Norfolk is working with Norfolk County Council (NCC) to understand the experiences of people over 65, and their family members or friends who help care for them.

We’d like to understand:

·       What makes it easier or harder for families or friends to get involved in caring for older people

·       What support would help families or friends become more involved.

By sharing your views, you’ll help Norfolk County Council better understand what carers go through and what they might do to improve support in the future.

The survey will take around 15 minutes to complete. Some questions are optional.

If you would prefer to do this survey with us over the phone, please call Healthwatch Norfolk on 01953 856029 and we will arrange a time to ring you back to complete the survey. Alternatively, please email: enquiries@healthwatchnorfolk.co.uk to receive the survey in alternative formats, including Easy Read, large print or in different languages.

How the survey results will be used

Survey responses are being collected and analysed by Healthwatch Norfolk. You can read our privacy policy at: www.healthwatchnorfolk.co.uk/about-us/privacy-statement.

All responses will be anonymous. The survey results will be used to make recommendations to NCC on how they might support families and friends to provide care, as part of a project report. The data will only be held by Healthwatch Norfolk, and will be deleted at the end of the project. The report will be publicly available on our website and may be used in other Healthwatch Norfolk communications.

Survey closing date: 16 July 2025
