What is this questionnaire about?
Can you tell us about volunteering across early help and children’s services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including Portsmouth and Southampton?
We would like to better understand the challenges facing those volunteers who are working with services that support children, young people and families.

Who are we?
This survey has been designed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and is being coordinated by NHS Hampshire and the Isle of Wight .  The ICP is a broad alliance of partners who all have a role in improving local health, care and wellbeing. Partners include NHS organisations, upper-tier local authorities, and the Voluntary and Community Health and Care Alliance, known as HIVCA.  Together, we are committed to supporting families across Portsmouth, Southampton, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight to give children the best possible start in life, and we also want to ensure that we can help nurture skills and build capability.

Who is the survey aimed at?
This survey is aimed at all statutory, community and voluntary sector organisations that use volunteer support to bolster services for children, families and young people across our HIOW footprint.  All questions are optional, but we would encourage you to fill it all to capture your experiences. Thank you very much for your contribution to this important survey.

What will the findings do/lead to?
The findings will help identify what could be done to shape and strengthen volunteering opportunities.  We value our volunteers and the benefit they bring to babies, children, young people and their families. We know volunteering is good for people’s emotional health and wellbeing. It gives a sense of purpose, offers peer support, promotes career development and is vital for the continued support of children and young people.   However, we also recognise that some things have had a huge impact on people and their ability to volunteer. Quite simply, we would like to understand more about the challenges facing volunteers so we can identify how, in Hampshire, we can support future workforce sustainability.

The survey is completely anonymous. However, there are options to leave contact details if you would like to share more information about your experiences, or if you would like to receive a summary of the findings. We are also interested in bringing a few respondents together for a focus group to discuss the findings. If you would like to be part of this, please let us know at the end of the survey.

How long is the survey?
There are 20 questions, 12 of which are multiple-choice; 8 are free-response questions. The survey will take around 15 -20 minutes to complete. You can leave the survey at any point (but answers won't be saved unless you press ‘Complete’ at the bottom right of the last page).   ~This survey will close at midnight on Friday, 27 June 2025 ~

How will people find out the results of the survey?
Findings will be posted on the ICB website and shared with HIVCA.  Alternatively, they can be sent by email to interested partners.
