Stage 1 survey for Personal Mobility Devices Study

0%

TRL (the Transport Research Laboratory) is currently conducting a study which aims to identify the minimum safety requirements for safe use of personal mobility devices (e.g. hover-boards, e-scooters, e-bikes, cargo bikes etc.) on public roads, and how those safety requirements should be regulated. As someone with an interest in personal mobility devices, we would like to invite you to take part in this study.

The study is being conducted in three main stages:
  1. An initial online survey (this survey), in which we will ask you to list of what you think would be the best regulatory measures for safe use of personal mobility devices on public roads (please note there are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers).
  2. A second online survey, in which we will ask you to rate a range of potential regulatory measures in terms of practicality, economic effect, and effectiveness.
  3. A remote workshop, in which we will discuss a shortlist of potential regulatory measures.

This initial survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.

We would be grateful for your participation in all three stages of the research, but please note that you are free to withdraw at any time without providing a reason. Please email
rsharp@trl.co.uk at your earliest convenience if you are unable to, or do not wish to, participate in any of the stages.

Outcomes of the study will be used to provide our client (the European Commission) with recommended minimum safety requirements which should be imposed to enable safe use of personal mobility devices on public roads, and how those safety requirements should be regulated.

For further information about the study, please see the
Information Sheet or contact Rosie Sharp at rsharp@trl.co.uk.

1. Before you complete the rest of the survey, it is important for us to obtain your consent. Please select 'Yes' or 'No' for each statement as appropriate. *
