Healthwatch Essex and Essex County Council are working together to hear and better understand the situations and issues facing the many unpaid carers in our communities.
For some unpaid carers, balancing employment and self-employment with caring is an uphill struggle and we know that unpaid carers face significant barriers to securing meaningful and sustainable employment. Many employers do not understand the challenges faced by carers and lack the time, finances or knowledge to fully support carers in the workplace. Letting your employer know that you have caring responsibilities is also a concern for some carers, but it’s an important step toward getting the support you need.
