The Annual UK Archive Sector Survey is run in partnership between The National Archives, the Welsh Government, Archives and Records Council Wales, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Scottish Council on Archives and National Records of Scotland.

Data, Use and Collection
Reports based on the Annual UK Archive Sector Survey 2026 will be published and made available on the websites of The National Archives, National Records of Scotland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, and the Welsh Government. The survey data submitted by services will be shared with a third-party contractor who will analyse and produce publicly available reports, supporting sector advocacy, benchmarking, archive sector development, business planning, and strategic planning.
After the reports are published, the dataset will be available on the websites of The National Archives, National Records of Scotland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, and the Welsh Government to support further research. Additionally, the raw dataset generated by the 2026 survey will be made publicly available on the UK Government’s data.gov.uk website, which provides non-personal UK government data as open data.
