Reigate & Banstead Borough Council Draft Budget Consultation 2026/27

1. Introduction

0%

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council provides a wide range of services and activities that benefit those who live and work in the borough. The Council is currently reviewing its budget for the year ahead.

This consultation is to collect views on the Council’s draft 2026/27 budget proposals. Overall, the draft budget proposes:
•    Not increasing the Reigate & Banstead Borough Council share of Council Tax in 2026/27
•    Draft projected budget requirements of £23.018 million
•    Net savings of £1.915 million
•    Additional spending of £0.793 million

Some of these proposals are unavoidable costs, where others represent savings or additional income. More information on this is provided in the individual sections of this survey.

We expect to have to draw on our financial reserves of £0.7 million, funding a shortfall in Housing Benefit Subsidy revenue from central government, whilst more information is awaited on the government’s funding settlement for next year.

This will be the Council’s last year in operation, as the borough of Reigate & Banstead will become part of a larger East Surrey Council from April 2027.
More information about the draft budget proposals is available on our website or on request from 01737 276000.

You can use this survey to comment on any or all of the proposals or give other feedback. You can skip questions that are not relevant to you.
