As part of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) Disability-Inclusive Laboratories in the Chemical Sciences project, the RSC is gathering and showcasing real-world examples of actions that make chemical sciences laboratories more accessible and inclusive for disabled individuals.

We aim to identify and share practical solutions, adaptions and good practices that have enhanced accessibility and inclusion in laboratory environments across the chemical sciences community.

Case studies might include small scale, individual adjustments that have supported specific needs, or broader initiatives that have help to create more inclusive laboratory spaces. By publishing a range of examples, the RSC hopes to demonstrate how accessibility and inclusion can be meaningfully embedded in laboratory practice, and to inspire others to take similar action.

If you have implemented or benefitted from an approach that could help others, we invite you to share your experience by completing this short form. Our team will follow up by email (or your preferred method of contact).

Case studies will be published by the RSC on our webpages to case studies page) in an anonymised form, and contributors will have the opportunity to review and agree to the final version before publication.

While we greatly value all submissions, publication is not guaranteed. The RSC reserves the right to withhold case studies that are not sufficiently relevant or aligned with the project’s aims.

Case studies selected for publication will be added to our continually growing case study library, which is updated regularly as new examples are reviewed and approved.

The RSC follows a robust and ethically responsible data management strategy, grounded in our internal policies and aligned with the RSC’s code of conduct and Data Protection Policy. We ensure that all data is handled securely, transparently, and in full compliance with UK GDPR practices for data quality and integrity.
