We are Coram, a children’s charity. We are working with the charity Stormbreak to learn more about how care-experienced children and young people feel about sport, exercise and physical activity.
What are you asking me to do?
We would like to ask you 10 questions about physical activity (including sport and exercise).
The questions will ask about:
· What you like about physical activity, and what you don’t like
· What support you get to take part in physical activity
· What you think needs changing to help care-experienced young people take part in physical activity
There are also a few questions at the start about you. The survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes.
Do I have to take part?
No, you don’t have to take part. It is your choice whether you complete the survey. You can skip any question that you don’t want to answer, or stop at any time.
There are no right or wrong answers. The questions just ask about how you feel and what you think. You don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to - just leave them blank and move to the next one.
Will you ask me for my name?
We will not ask for your name. We will not tell anyone what answers you give to the questions, unless you tell us that you or someone you know is hurt or in danger. If that happens, we will let your local authority know. We will not know your name and can only tell them how old you are and what you have said.
What will you do with my answers?
We will group everybody's answers together to give a picture of how care-experienced young people feel about physical activity. We are also running workshops with children and young people to find out more about their views. We will use all this information to write new guidance for local authorities. This guidance will help local authorities across the country to support care-experienced young people better. It will give more young people more chances to take part in physical activity if they want to.
