Thank you for your interest in the proposed update to the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Alterations and Extensions to Residential Properties. There have been a number of changes to national and local planning policy since the SPD was adopted in 2008 and the revised Draft SPD has been prepared to ensure the guidance remains up to date and relevant.
This SPD will provide guidance to householders and their agents for any applications they submit to alter or extend their home. It will be a material consideration in assessing planning applications. Where permitted development rights exist and planning consent is not required, the SPD will serve as good practice to help ensure amenity is maintained for neighbours and local character is retained.
