This application form is for learners undertaking Unit 1 or Unit 2 of the UAL Applied General Diploma or Extended Diploma in Art and Design.


To apply for a special consideration for a learner please:

  • ensure you have read and understood the UAL Special Consideration Policy. Please refer to our Special Consideration Policy here. To open the link, please right click the link and select "open link in new tab".
  • complete one application for each individual learner. 
  • do not provide a grade, proposed or otherwise, for Unit 1 learners as this qualification is assessed by UAL.
  • ensure you have evidence to support the application as this will be required to be uploaded via SharePoint.

Overview:
This application form is for a UAL Approved Centre to submit on behalf of a learner who has been impacted by unanticipated illness, injury or other adverse circumstance at the time of assessment which has prevented them from performing to their full potential. For the application to be considered, the learner must have either completed the assessment or completed at least 25% of the guided learning hours of the assessment . In these cases, UAL Awarding Body may apply a Special Consideration to the learner's assessment in the form of a mark adjustment to ensure they are not disadvantaged.

 

Reasons for special consideration
Temporary illness, injury, bereavement or adverse circumstances at the time of the external assessment.   
 
Minimum evidence requirements:

For a special consideration application to be considered by UAL Awarding Body, it must meet the minimum evidence requirements that at least 25% of the GLH for unit 1 and unit 2 (49 hours) has been completed, and there is enough work to be able to assess.

For unit 1 this must have been, authenticated, and will need to be uploaded to Sharepoint via the links you will be provided on submission and validation of the special consideration. 

For unit 2 this must have been internally assessed and submitted for moderation via sharepoint links you will be provided.

Learners that have not completed at least 25% of GLH will be required to either withdraw from the qualification or apply for a deferral of the assessment to the next available opportunity

Deadline:
Please complete and submit this application form no later than 5 working days after the deadline for submission of the external assessment. Applications received after this date may not be processed and may result in a delay to issuing results.

For learners on the second year of the extended diploma, please submit application no later than the 19 June 2025. Applications received after this date may not be processed and may result in a delay to issuing results.
