As part of our purpose of ‘Working Together to Transform Britain into a Great Cycling Nation’, British Cycling has begun the process of creating a bespoke, long-term plan for each of its cycling disciplines. The six disciplines include BMX, Cycle Speedway, Cyclo-cross, Mountain bike, Road and Track with the plan for each covering recreational riding as well as competition.
This work will help us to evaluate the current state of the sport, articulate a vision for the future, highlight current challenges and offer recommendations to enable each discipline to thrive sustainably.
It is envisaged that each of the discipline plans will capture the spectrum of activity from learning to ride through to elite performance, and each will have a strong youth focus. The discipline plans will help us to prioritise investment and resource and enable us to work more strategically in the future.
An initial, six-week consultation is designed to gather a wide range of views from people involved in each of the cycling disciplines. Whether you are a rider, organiser, commissaire, parent, marshal or club member, we want to hear from you. We are asking for your opinions on the biggest challenges, through to what you love about the sport and your opinions on the biggest opportunities for the future.
This consultation will close on 17th February
, at which point all responses will be collated and shared with the discipline commissions
before being fed into the development of draft plans for each discipline.
