This survey is being conducted by the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board (ESAB). The purpose of this survey is to better understand what may prevent individuals, particularly those from underrepresented groups or specific communities, from seeking help or raising concerns when they, or someone they know, may be experiencing harm, abuse, or neglect.
Why your answers matter
Your responses will help us identify key barriers to reporting concerns and accessing support services, so we can improve awareness and help make support more accessible to everyone. We will share anonymised results with our partner organisations to help improve services.
Before you start
Some of the questions relate to experiencing harm, abuse or neglect which may be upsetting. You can end the survey at any point or skip questions you’d prefer not to answer.
ESAB is not responsible for individual casework and is therefore unable to respond to any specific concerns or cases directly.
If you are worried about yourself or someone else, please visit the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board website for guidance on how to get help, access support, or report abuse or neglect.
In an emergency, always call 999.
Is it anonymous?
This survey asks for your name and contact email address; however, we would only ever contact you regarding your answers if you indicate that there is a risk to your, or someone else’s, health and safety, or that you are experiencing a serious problem with your care. In this case someone who is not your social worker or care worker will contact you to discuss how you wish to proceed.
The survey also includes questions about age, gender, ethnicity and accessibility to help us better understand the results of the survey.
How long will it take?
The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete and includes a mix of multiple-choice and open-text questions.
Need help with the survey or have questions?
If you have any questions about this survey or its purpose, please contact esab.comms@essex.gov.uk.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views.
