Before you begin – Personal information, confidentiality and data protection

Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council are jointly undertaking a consultation on a proposal to bring devolution to Hull and East Yorkshire, and we want to hear from you.

Before you begin the consultation, please read the following information about how we will manage the data you supply to us. 

We will process any personal information we receive from you in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), the Data Protection Act 2018 and both Councils’ data protection policy and guidelines. This means that the Councils will hold your personal data and only use it for the purpose for which it was collected, being this consultation.

This consultation is subject to independent quality assurance by The Consultation Institute and independent analysis and evaluation by TONIC. Selected staff members from each will have access to the responses for purposes of analysis only but all information will remain with the Councils.

You can choose not to take part in the consultation, to stop responding at any time, or to ignore any personal questions that you do not want to answer. Please do not enter any identifiable and personally sensitive information (e.g. name, address) into the free-text comment boxes.

The Council uses SmartSurvey's software to create and administer the majority of its surveys. All survey responses are managed through SmartSurvey sub-processors, where data is stored securely by robust security features.  Details of SmartSurvey’s own privacy policy can be found on their website:
