What we're hearing about EMED's provision of non-emergency patient transport in Surrey Heartlands
We would love to hear your experiences of non-emergency patient transport (NEPT) in Surrey so we can continue to share feedback on the service.
NEPT is a free transport service for people who, due to their mobility needs or medical condition, are unable to travel safely by other means for medical care. NEPT in Surrey is provided by the EMED Group. You are usually eligible to use NEPT if:
- Your medical condition means you cannot use other forms of transport without damaging your health.
- Your mobility means that you would be unable to use any other means of transport - for example, stretcher patients.
- You need the skills and support of specialist patient transport staff - for example, to administer oxygen during the journey.
Healthwatch Surrey champions the voice of local people to shape, improve and get the best from NHS, health and social care services. As an independent statutory body, we have the power to make sure decision makers listen to your feedback.
Transport is booked in advance, not an ambulance called in an emergency. The transport booked may be a small minibus, an ambulance style vehicle or a taxi and may have the name EMED on it.
