Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is any form of violence which is disproportionately perpetrated against women and girls. It includes sexual violence, sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, stalking, harassment, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based abuse. * Please note this is not a public survey.
There is lots being delivered in Leeds to address the issue of violence against women and girls. The Leeds VAWG Board would like to capture the local work that is taking place and also seek views from colleagues and partners to help inform the Board’s future priorities.
We have identified some broad themes based on local, regional and national activity. Please tell us about any local activity you (or others) are delivering in these areas, as well as any gaps or opportunities you have identified. We have provided some examples in the description under each heading, but these are not exhaustive lists, and themes may overlap. We welcome you to share insight on as many or as few themes as are relevant to your organisation. If you would like to tell us about activity that doesn’t fit into the themes identified, there’s a space for this at the end of the survey too.
(Leeds also has a statutory Domestic Abuse Local Partnership Board and a 5 year strategy to tackle domestic abuse. For this reason, the survey doesn’t ask specifically about domestic abuse. Rather, it focuses on other types of VAWG. However, we recognise that there is overlap and still welcome you to contribute anything you feel is relevant).
*Reminder - this is not a public survey. You are welcome to share amongst organisations in Leeds but we request that you do not share with members of the public. We are capturing the views of women and girls through other mechanisms to ensure that lived experience influences the work of the VAWG Board.
