Welcome to the National Survey for Contract Management — and thank you for taking part.
This survey is designed to capture a clear picture of how councils across the country manage contracts. The findings will provide a valuable benchmark, helping compare your council’s approach with others, while also identifying where councils can be better supported to achieve their ambitions for more effective contract management. The survey will be open until 14th February 2026.
The survey is open to anyone, at any level, who is involved in council run contract management. It is completely anonymous, though we do ask a few basic details about you and your council to help with data analysis. The only time we require your email address is to confirm you are part of local government - and, if you wish, to notify you when results are published and to share further updates.
This survey forms part of the Contract Management Pioneer Programme (CMPP), funded by the Crown Commercial Service in partnership with the Cabinet Office and the Government Commercial Function, and Local Partnerships as the delivery agent. Together, these partners are working with local authorities to raise the standard of contract management through training, networking, tools and guidance.
When considering your responses, please take into account the position across the whole council and not just the people and teams you engage directly with.
-
- There are 8 quick questions to answer with no need for background information and a few more questions if your council is already part of CMPP. You will be asked to “finish” at the end of the survey and your completed version will available to you.
- Should you have any accessibility requirements or issues completing this survey, please do not hesitate to message CMPPenquiries@localpartnerships.gov.uk
- The combined results will be published in 10 March 2026, 1-2pm with a webinar to share the results. Register here.

All data will be managed in line with DPA 2018 and UK GDPR. Your responses will not be used to identify you as an individual with all aggregated data which will be published and used for learning purposes (e.g. through webinars) will be anonymised.
