Oral Health Matters – Have your say
We want to hear about your experiences, views and understanding of oral health.
Good oral health is about more than just your teeth. It can affect your ability to eat, speak and smile, as well as your confidence, wellbeing and everyday life.
We want to understand what oral health means to people living in Boston and the surrounding areas, including:
- How your oral health affects, or could affect, your everyday life
- Your views and beliefs about looking after your teeth and mouth and preventing problems
- Any barriers that make it difficult to look after your oral health or access dental care
- Where you go for information, advice and support about your oral health
- What could help people in Boston and the surrounding areas to maintain good oral health
- The survey is open to anyone living in Boston and the surrounding areas.
- You don't need to have a current oral health problem or be registered with a dentist to take part.
- We want to hear from people with a range of experiences.
The survey should take around 5–15 minutes to complete, depending on how much detail you would like to share.
Why Boston?
The latest National Dental Epidemiology Surveys found that levels of tooth decay among those surveyed in Boston were higher than the England average.
In the most recent survey of 5-year-olds, 39.7% of those sampled in Boston had dental decay, compared with 22.4% across England.
We want to understand more about people's experiences and the factors that may affect oral health, so that local services and organisations can better respond to the needs of the community.
How will your feedback be used?
This HWLincs project is funded by the Local Dental Network.
Your feedback will help us produce a report about the oral health experiences and needs of people in Boston and the wider county. Your responses will be treated confidentially and presented anonymously in our reporting, unless you specifically give consent for us to use your information in another way.
Your feedback will be used by HWLincs and the Lincolnshire Oral Health Alliance Group to:
- Better understand the oral health needs and experiences of people living in Boston and across Lincolnshire
- Support the development of the Lincolnshire Dental Strategy
- Help inform the design and delivery of oral health improvement programmes
- Help inform the development and delivery of health and dental services
