The White Paper and SEND Reforms have been published and currently there is a live consultation. We are hosting 3 separate sessions for you to come along and talk about what this could mean for you and your child/young person.
There are a number of changes, which include the introduction of new levels of support which we have included below:
Universal – support that is available to all children and young people regardless of need.
Targeted - Will provide structured interventions within mainstream settings, it could include small group work and will be recorded in an Individual Support Plan and developed with parents/carers.
Targeted Plus - This will support children and young people. The plan is to have better access to education and health professionals, and outreach from alternative provision or specialist settings. Pupils may access an Inclusion Base within their school.
Specialist (EHCPs) - Will apply to children with only the most complex needs in both mainstream and specialist schools. (Complex has not been defined yet).
Children with an existing EHCP will receive a needs assessment at the end of each phase of education.
The dates and times are below:
Tuesday 21st April 9.30am - 11am
Thursday 30th April 6pm - 8pm
Thursday 7th May 2pm - 3.30pm
