For foster carers and services in England only

The survey will close COP Monday 9 March.

On 4 February 2026, the Department for Education launched a new fostering action plan ‘Renewing fostering: homes for 10,000 more children’. As part of the action plan they are consulting on proposals to amend the role of fostering panels and improve the handling of allegations and standards of care concerns. Along with this, they are seeking more evidence on a range of topics such as financial transparency, a foster carer register and DBS checks and vetting for prospective foster carers.

The Fostering Network will be responding to this consultation and call for evidence on behalf of our members. Therefore, we would like to hear foster carers and fostering services views on the government proposals and feed them into our response.

The survey below includes some questions from the consultation as well as some of our own that we think will help capture the wider picture.
