Liverpool Women’s University Hospital, Brownlow Health and the Special Care Dentistry Unit at Liverpool Dental Hospital are pilot sites for the “Check With Me First” trauma cards. These are designed to help survivors of sexual trauma to share their needs and boundaries in a simple, discreet way during healthcare appointments. Staff in these services have been trained on how to support patients who have experienced sexual trauma.
This project started because trauma survivors told Healthwatch Liverpool that their trauma made it more difficult for them to access health care and that they weren't confident to disclose the trauma to medical staff.
