Thank you for your interest in this survey, which is being undertaken by World Horse Welfare and Redwings Horse Sanctuary on behalf of the National Equine Welfare Council (NEWC).
We are conducting this survey in response to a range of emerging pressures - including the wet winter, hay shortages and rising feed prices, and increasing reports of owners, keepers and equine welfare organisation facing multiple challenges - to better understand the current situation and its impacts.
The anonymised results from this study will be made publicly available to highlight any challenges and concerns that equine welfare establishments, including rescues and sanctuaries, are currently facing, as well as the potential impact on equine welfare. Anonymous quotations may be used to illustrate key findings. The results will also be shared with the UK Government, Devolved Administrations, and local authorities to ensure they are aware of the ongoing situation and to help inform policy decisions.
