Information about the Survey

The outcomes of this survey will reflect your country's contribution to the Quality Policy dimension of the second edition of the Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (QI4SD) Index. The QI4SD Index, developed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with partner organizations of the International Network on Quality Infrastructure (INetQI), serves as a tool to evaluate a country's readiness in Quality Infrastructure (QI) to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The first edition of QI4SD Index was introduced in 2022, with the second edition scheduled for release in November 2024.

The QI4SD Index underscores the significance of QI for sustainable development and emphasizes the need for investment in this area. QI plays a crucial role in enabling sustainable development, and the QI4SD Index fills an information gap by being the first tool to explicitly measure the effectiveness of QI in meeting sustainable development objectives. Additionally, it provides a comprehensive assessment of QI on its own merit.

The QI4SD Index assesses QI across five dimensions: standards, accreditation, conformity assessment, metrology, and quality policy. These dimensions are combined into a composite indicator, providing a single aggregate score for each country. Furthermore, the index offers scores for each of the three main pillars of sustainable development: People, Planet, and Prosperity, indicating a country's contribution and preparedness to address sustainable development within these specific areas.
