Violence Against Women & Girls Survey- professionals

1. Introduction

This research survey is part of the Dundee Violence against Women & Girls Needs Assessment Project 2026 being carried out on behalf of Dundee Protecting People and the Dundee Violence Against Women and Girls Partnership (VAWGP).  Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is any form of violence and abuse which is disproportionately perpetrated by men against women and girls such as, sexual violence, domestic abuse, coercive control, stalking and harassment, commercial sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage, so-called ‘honour-based’ abuse, exploitation and abuse of women and girls online.  We want to gain a clearer understanding of the types of violence the women and girls of Dundee are experiencing or have experienced, and to find out from them, what types of services and support would best meet their needs.  We also want to make sure that there are no gaps or barriers preventing women and girls from getting the services they need, when they need them.

The research aims to make sure that the voices of women & Girls who have experienced any form of VAWG and/or who are living with the impact are included in shaping current and future services and in how resources are allocated. The prevalence of VAWG is, sadly, extremely high in Scotland so this survey is likely to be applicable to anyone working with women and children in a supportive capacity. This survey is designed to gather workforce experiences and perspectives on this and is for staff working in services available to Dundee residents.

The research is funded by The Improvement Service and will help Dundee Protecting People and the Dundee VAWG Partnership make decisions about the future direction of the city’s coordinated response to VAWG. Please note, participation in this survey is voluntary.

Whilst responses are anonymous, there are some questions related to your occupation to support the analysis of data and identify local trends. All questions are optional. No names, identifying details or personal information will ever be used. Taking part will have no impact on your ability to receive local services and/or on your employment. Your safety and wellbeing is paramount throughout- please stop at any time if you no longer feel comfortable taking part. When you submit this form, it will not automatically collect your details like name and email address unless you provide it yourself.
