Page 1

About the project: Following the announcement that the York and  North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA) has been awarded funding from the Department for Transport to explore how to deliver better rural and coastal bus services, the Combined Authority wants to hear from communities.
The Combined Authority is keen to hear from groups and individuals whose voices often go unheard.

There are five areas that are included in the study:

- The York – Selby Corridor (including links to West and South Yorkshire)
- Coastal communities and Vale of Pickering
- The North York Moors National Park
- The Yorkshire Dales National Park
- Richmond, Ripon and Northallerton (including links to Darlington and the Tees Valley)

About the survey: YNYCA are running a study into bus services in your area.  Rocket Science, an independent research company, are doing the some of the research for YNYCA.
We would like to know about the views, experiences and needs of people around bus services. We are keen to hear the voices of people who are often not heard or involved in decisions on transport, whether they use buses or not. This will help to shape the approach to future provision.

How we use the information you share:

The research will be co-ordinated by Rocket Science, with YNYCA acting as the Data Controller for this research. Rocket Science acts as a Data Processor on behalf of YNYCA and will only process your personal data in accordance with YNYCA’s instructions.

The Combined Authority will act in accordance with its privacy policy. For more information on how your data is stored and processed, see our privacy notice. You can find out more about Rocket Science's privacy notice on our website.

We will use information on which of the 5 study areas you are located in to understand issues in specific areas. We will also use demographic information you share to understand issues faced by specific groups.

Your data will be stored securely using approved systems. Your data will only be kept for as long as necessary to support this research and related transport planning activities, in line with YNYCA’s retention policy.

Your response will be analysed alongside others and reported back to YNYCA with ‘pseudonymity’. This means that identifying details such as names will be removed or replaced to reduce the likelihood of individuals being identified, although complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed. This is the format in which responses will be shared back to YNYCA.
For more information please contact: https://yorknorthyorks-ca.gov.uk/personal-privacy-notice/

The lawful basis for processing is to ensure that responses are credible and representative, and data processing is necessary to understand user needs and improve services. The impact on individuals is low, and applies appropriate safeguards (including pseudonymisation, limited data use, and transparency) are in place. Individuals can object at any time. This is to support public sector planning and improve transport services
