Beds Fire Crest
Community Risk Management Plan 2027 to 2032

Help shape the future of Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service

Bedfordshire is changing at a pace not seen in generations.

During the next decade our county will experience significant population growth, major national infrastructure projects, expansion of London Luton Airport, delivery of East West Rail, the creation of the Universal theme park resort and proposals for new settlements including Tempsford. Together these developments will bring new opportunities for our communities, but they will also introduce new and evolving risks.

At the same time, climate change, an ageing population, growing demand for emergency services and increasing vulnerability mean we must continue to adapt.

But despite all this, if you need help in an emergency, you can be assured that Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is here to help you. If you are more likely to have a fire in your home or business, we will help you reduce that risk and we will work with other organisations to keep you safe.

Every day, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service works to keep people safe by preventing emergencies, protecting communities and responding when help is needed. To continue doing this effectively, we need to make sure our people, resources and services are focused on the risks where they can make the greatest difference. that matter most.

Our new Community Risk Management Plan sets out how we will:

  • Understand and respond to the risks facing Bedfordshire
  • Support and develop our workforce
  • Help communities become safer and more resilient
  • Build a flexible service ready for the future

We have used data, local knowledge and community risk information to develop our proposals, but it is important that we also hear from the people who live, work and travel in Bedfordshire.

You can view the full draft plan and our research on our website if you would like further information to complete the survey.

Your views will help shape how we deliver our services over the coming years and ensure we continue working together to keep Bedfordshire safe.
