KTC Survey on Holiday Let Nuisance

About this survey.

This questionnaire is from Keswick Town Council (KTC) and the Keswick Community Partnership.  We are gathering feedback on residents’ experiences of resolving nuisance behaviour from holiday lets.  Since 2022 KTC has been running a holiday let nuisance reporting scheme.  The scheme helps residents report issues they encounter with nearby holiday lets relating to noise, anti-social behaviour and other problems such as poor maintenance and refuse.

Whilst most owners are responsible and engage with the Town Council and the neighbours to resolve matters, some do not.  Therefore, Keswick Town Council supports the proposals currently going through Parliament to introduce a licensing scheme for short term holiday lets.  This would ensure more rigorous regulation of the sector, to a standard similar to that for HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupation).

We would like to know what the residents of our community have experienced when they have tried to resolve issues related to holiday lets near them.  Your response will be anonymous.

Would you be willing to talk to someone about your experiences?  If yes, please e mail office@keswicktowncouncil.gov.uk and keswickcp@gmail.com with your contact details.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR VIEWS.  THESE WILL BE COLLATED BY KESWICK TOWN COUNCIL AND SHARED WITH KESWICK COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP.  We will add this to the evidence base we use to lobby the authorities (such as the National Park Authority, the Government, Cumberland Council and the Police) for action and policy changes.
