Charnwood Borough Council is undertaking a public consultation on a proposal to install a new closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera on Moor Lane (near the N R Russel Convenience Store).
This initiative is to provide camera coverage to prevent and detect crime and anti-social behaviour and help with the detection of those involved and to protect public safety.
We believe a CCTV system could serve as a powerful deterrent and assist Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire Police in investigating incidents within the area.
We are also writing to residents and businesses that may be within the camera’s scope to gather views and assess any needs which may arise.
We want to hear your views, concerns, and suggestions. Your feedback is crucial in helping us assess the community impact and make an informed decision.
The consultation closes at 5pm on Friday, 2 October 2026.
