Unfair Index: Designing a fairer future. Social and community life

1. Introduction

This survey is about social and community life. It covers connecting with others, taking part in social and community events, including faith and belief, arts and culture, as well as leisure activities, recreation and hobbies.

What this survey covers

This is one of five surveys looking at different parts of everyday life.

  • Social and community life: connecting with others, taking part in events and lifestyle activities (this survey)
  • Health and wellness: physical and mental health, intimate life, wellbeing and staying active
  • Technology, learning and work: digital tools or assistive technology, education, employment and volunteering
  • Life at home and financial life: your experiences at home, caring for yourself and others, and managing money
  • Outside the home: buildings, streets, transport, tourism and getting around

All five of the surveys are available on our website. You can complete as many of these as you wish.

We’ll bring findings from all the surveys together so we can see the full picture of everyday life. This will help us understand where the biggest, most unfair challenges are and focus our efforts where they’ll have the most impact.

Designability will be reporting findings of the five surveys to capture general themes or trends. Your responses will be used to generate these insights.

We will ask you about:

  • Everyday social connections
  • Community activities, including local groups, festivals and events
  • Faith and belief
  • Arts and culture
  • Leisure, hobbies and sport

We will ask about your experience moving through and accessing places and transport in the ‘Outside the home’ survey.
