Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey.

Who is this survey for?
If you are a social worker, we are interested in hearing from you whether or not you are a practice educator.

By ‘Practice Educator’ we are referring to registered social workers who provide support, guidance, and oversight to social work students during their practice placements; practice educators take overall responsibility for assessing learners against relevant frameworks. They are likely to have done training such as Practice Educator Professional Standards courses (PEPS1 and/or PEPS 2), but we recognise that there are many different models for practice education across the country.  People will have received different training and will work in different ways.

We recognise that other social workers – including (but not limited to) workplace supervisors – also have an important role to play in supporting students.

What is this survey for?
The survey will help the us build a more in-depth knowledge of the practice educator workforce to support this critical role in social work education and training in England.
The findings will inform our work in this area.

Is this the only way to have my say?
No. We’ve already heard many views on this important topic – for example through commissioned research and in forums and groups we host and attend; there will be more ways to get involved.

Do I have to complete this survey, and how long will it take?
No. The survey is voluntary.
Many of the questions are optional; where they are not, this is because your answer will direct you to the questions most relevant to you.
The survey should take around 5 minutes – but could take longer if you have more you want to share.

Is the survey anonymous?

  • You can choose to complete the survey anonymously.
  • There is also an option to provide your email address if you wish to be kept updated about future work on practice education and further opportunities to get involved.
