Background
In February, as part of the ongoing maintenance and review of National Courses, we asked learners and educators to give feedback on some straightforward changes that could be made to current assessments in different subjects. Following this, we’ve identified changes we can make from the 2027/28 session to improve current assessments in more courses. These are:
Modern Studies – National 5
Nuadh-eòlas – Nàiseanta 5
Geography – National 5 and Higher
Cruinn-eolas – Nàiseanta 5 agus Àrd-Ìre
Philosophy – National 5 and Higher
History - National 5 and Higher
Eachdraidh - Nàiseanta 5 agus Àrd-Ìre
Our qualifications reform and review programme will bring wider changes from 2031, and learners and educators are being asked to get involved in shaping these qualifications over the next few years. The changes being proposed in this survey aim to support learners in the meantime before these wider changes take place.
What am I being asked to do?
The survey will ask for your opinion on changes we are proposing to qualifications that you have taught or studied. Your feedback will help us to decide if we should make these changes.
The survey is open until 5pm on Friday 19 June and should take around 5 to 15 minutes to complete.
How will my information be handled?
The survey is anonymous and no identifying information about you or your school or college will be kept or published in reports or presentations. To protect your identity, data that has not been anonymised or analysed will only be shared with those working directly on the research.
Because the survey is anonymous, we will not be able to remove your data once you have started the survey.
Your data will be stored securely in a drive that can only be accessed by those working directly on the research. After the research has been published, this data will be destroyed.
How should I answer the survey?
The survey is completely voluntary so you do not need to take part if you do not want to.
We are interested in hearing the personal views of learners and educators with direct experience of studying or teaching the qualifications listed above. Please only answer this survey for qualifications that you have studied or taught.
If you are under the age of 18, you may complete this survey alongside a trusted adult if you wish but please give your own views.
You may receive this survey from more than one source, but please only complete it once.
