Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council opens a 12 week public consultation on the draft pitches strategy.
The purpose of the consultation is to test the findings, priorities and proposed actions within the draft pitches strategy with those who use, manage, support or are affected by local pitch provision. The consultation will seek to understand the practical, social, environmental, financial and equality impacts of the draft proposals before the strategy is finalised.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness of the draft pitches strategy and explain why it is being developed.
- Provide clear, accessible information on the evidence base, proposed priorities and potential delivery options.
- Capture views from a broad range of stakeholders, including regular pitch users and communities who may be less likely to engage through standard channels.
- Identify key impacts, risks, opportunities and local considerations associated with the draft proposals.
- Ensure feedback is recorded, analysed and considered before final decisions are made.
- Demonstrate that the consultation process has been open, transparent, inclusive and proportionate.
Consultation Methods
The consultation will use a range of platforms to maximise participation and make it easy for people to respond in the way that suits them best. This mixed-method approach will combine digital engagement with in-person opportunities, targeted stakeholder discussions and direct communication with affected groups.
- Online consultation survey hosted on the council’s website.
- Dedicated consultation webpage containing the draft strategy, summary document and frequently asked questions.
- Public drop-in sessions at accessible community locations.
- Targeted workshops or meetings with clubs, leagues, schools, governing bodies and partner organisations.
- Briefings for elected members and relevant internal council teams.
- Direct email invitations to identified stakeholders, with follow-up reminders during the consultation period.
- Promotion through social media, council communication channels, local networks and community partners.
- Paper copies or assisted response options for individuals who cannot access the consultation online.
Three events to take place as follows:
- Wednesday 14th October, 10 am - 12 noon. Online only session.
- Monday 19th October, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Chestnut Suite, Lagan Valley Island.
- Monday 9th November, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Dundonald International Ice Bowl.
