Charnwood Borough Council is applying to Leicestershire County Council for a Licence to Cultivate for the open space known as Holt Green in Loughborough.
The licence will enable local volunteers to continue to maintain the open space. As part of the application process, the Council is giving residents in the local area an opportunity to offer their views.
A plan which shows the areas of the site which will be maintained by the volunteer group Holt Green Gardeners can be found on Charnwood Borough Council's website.
