Background
Over the next few years, we are going to be reviewing and reforming our qualifications. As we design these qualifications, we want to make sure that we listen to and consider the views of educators.
We are looking to hear from educators with recent experience of teaching national and/or vocational qualifications in the senior phase. The main focus of this survey is National 3, 4 and 5. There will be further research focusing specifically on National 1 and 2 beginning later in 2026. During 2027 and 2028, we will be carrying out more research on Higher and Advanced Higher.
Your feedback will help shape what qualifications in the senior phase will look like to make sure they suit the needs of learners, educators, employers and wider society – now and in the future.
What am I being asked to do?
This survey will ask you questions about national and vocational qualifications that are taught to learners in the senior phase. You will also be asked some questions about yourself. You do not need to answer these questions but doing so will help us to understand how representative the data we collect us.
The survey will be open until 5pm on Friday 2 October and should take around 15-20 minutes to complete.
How will my data be handled?
The survey is anonymous and no identifying information about you or your school or college will be kept or published in reports or presentations. To protect your identity, data that has not been anonymised or analysed will only be shared with those working directly on the research.
Because the survey is anonymous, we will not be able to remove your data once you have started the survey.
Your data will be stored securely in a drive that can only be accessed by those working directly on the research. After the design process is complete, this data will be destroyed.
How should I answer this survey?
The survey is completely voluntary, so you do not need to take part if you do not want to.
You may receive this survey from more than one source, but please only complete it once.
