SEMA and ARGH Scotland Late Autism Identification Support Group - Registration Form

Introduction

Being assessed or realising you are autistic can be a good but also emotional time. It might help you understand why your experiences were different from others around you, or you might have more questions than answers. There are groups and organisations that offer support for people who identify as autistic later in life, but we know what it means to be Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic and autistic.

Working with ARGH Scotland, we will be delivering a series of sessions to provide support to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people about their autistic identity, using our own lived experience and professional knowledge. These sessions are specifically useful for those who have not been able to get any support or given any information to help them understand what being autistic means and what support is available to them.

By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of:

What does it means to be autistic
How to make sense of our autistic experiences
How to explain to others what it means to be autistic, and
Your rights under the Equality Act and what support you could be asking for in education and work

The sessions will be held every week for 8 weeks between Sunday 17 May and Sunday 5 July from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. We are limited to 10 spaces for this course. By signing up for these sessions, you must be able to attend all 8 sessions. Spaces will be given on a first come, first served basis.

The late identification group sessions are delivered in partnership between Scottish Ethnic Minority Autistics (SEMA) and ARGH Scotland.
