1. Welcome and Introduction

Supporting a Stronger Visitor Economy Evidence Base for the East Midlands

The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) has commissioned Global Tourism Solutions (GTS) to produce the 2025 Visitor Economy (STEAM) Reports for all of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Alongside supporting the annual visitor economy reports, this data collection exercise forms part of a wider ambition to strengthen how visitor economy intelligence is gathered, shared and utilised across the region.

EMCCA is exploring the development of a more coordinated Visitor Economy Data Hub, bringing together key visitor economy insights, performance data and intelligence from across the East Midlands. The long-term aim is to improve the availability of consistent data for local authorities, destination management organisations, attractions, tourism businesses and regional partners, supporting evidence-based decision-making, investment, destination development and marketing activity.

To support this work, we are seeking visitor and footfall information from attractions, events, venues and tourism-related organisations across the region. Information provided will help us build a more complete understanding of visitor activity, economic impact and tourism trends across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

We are requesting visitor data for 2025, and where possible 2024, including information relating to:

Visitor attractions
Events and festivals
Museums and cultural venues
Leisure and recreation facilities
Footfall data
Visitor-related parking facilities

We would be grateful if responses could be submitted by Friday 18 September. A prompt return will help ensure the data can be incorporated into the 2025 STEAM analysis and support timely production of the visitor economy reports.

All information will be treated in confidence and used solely for visitor economy analysis and reporting purposes. Individual organisation data will not be published and will instead be aggregated to provide regional and local visitor economy insights.

Your support will help strengthen the evidence base available to EMCCA, local authorities and tourism partners, ensuring future decision-making is informed by robust and locally relevant data.

Thank you for your support and contribution to this important piece of work.
