This survey is about the School Nursing Team in Suffolk
What is School Nursing?
School nurses support children and young people aged 5 to 19 and care leavers and young people with additional needs up to the age of 25. They can help with:
• Physical health issues
• Emotional wellbeing support - helping you find support for your feelings and emotions
• Support if you are neurodivergent
• Advice on staying safe
• Sexual health
• Help with worries and life challenges
Changes are being made to School Nursing
Suffolk County Council is looking at changes for how the School Nursing Team will continue to support children and young people.
Some of the changes the Council are looking at are:
• More support and advice given to you online and by phone.
• Fewer face-to-face appointments.
• Running during school term time only
If these changes go ahead:
• School nurses would still support children and young people aged 5–19 and care leavers and young people with additional needs up to the age of 25.
• School nurses would still work with schools to help you stay healthy, safe and well.
• School drop-in support would continue, but the frequency may change
• Children and young people who are neurodivergent or have additional needs will still receive support.
