State of Evaluation in the UK

1. Introduction

Thank you for taking part in this online survey of UK evaluation. At the UK Evaluation Society, we are interested in understanding the evaluation sector better. To achieve this we invite all people involved or interested in evaluation to respond to this survey.

Specifically, the purpose of this survey is to:

  • Understand who conducts evaluation in the UK and who uses it and commissions it
  • Understand how different types of evaluators perceive evaluation and themselves as part of the population working on evaluation in the UK
  • Understand how organisations and individuals are conducting evaluations and what their needs and wishes are

It will take around 15 minutes to complete.

We will present the findings of this survey in May 2026, at the UK Evaluation Society annual conference. The theme of the conference is Bridging the Gap: Evaluation into Action with the following sub-themes:

  • how evaluation influences decisions and outcomes
  • building evaluation cultures, and
  • how to communicate evaluation for better impact

You can save your response and continue later but please submit your response before 31st January.

Information on our privacy policy and details on how your data will be used can be found here: State of Evaluation Survey January 2026 Privacy Notice
