Mitigating the impact of HS2 in your area
The impact of HS2 on our local environment continues to be one of the top concerns for local residents in the constituency of Chesham and Amersham. In a recent survey, you told us your continued frustrations and anger at the way HS2 and its contractors are being left to do what they want without sufficient scrutiny or oversight by this government and agencies that act on their behalf. We believe local community action can be effective in mitigating the impact of HS2 and its impact on our daily lives and environment.
The Liberal Democrats demonstrated this recently through petitioning residents. This action helped to block the building of a temporary and potentially dangerous roundabout just by the Missenden Vent Shaft. Grass roots campaigning works. HS2 has recently been ordered to stop tree-felling at Jones Hill Wood after campaigners launched a landmark legal case against Natural England.
Success is not guaranteed but if we do not try, we will not succeed. The defeatist attitude of Bucks Council is just not acceptable. We will do everything we can to make the voice of local communities heard.
We want to hear from you about HS2 issues affecting you today - We promise to help publicise those issues and petition on your behalf to seek solutions and remedies through working with HS2 and Bucks Council, who we believe could do so much more. Where any comments are given by you in relation to HS2, they would be anonymised to protect confidentiality.
Thank you in advance for your responses. Together we can make a difference.
