Do you want to protect your home from flooding?

As part of my HNC in mechanical engineering, I am required to lead and manage a research project. For this I am researching whether flooding is on the increase and is there a market for domestic flood defences. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a few moments of your time to complete my short questionnaire and help to acheive my goal. Flood damages cost the government and insurance companies billions of pounds every year and with an increasing population and the need for cheap and affordable housing, more and more homes are being built on flood plains. Covering these plains in concrete and tarmac reduce the area in which water can be absorbed into the ground. This results in areas becoming flooded and homes being damaged. Flooding is not always necessarily due to natural causes but can also be due to failed or damaged water services. Would you be willing to protect your home and possessions from flooding?
